I want.

Kissing Suzy Kolber's Christmas Ape is coming out with a book. It's going on my Amazon.com wishlist. That is all. (If you are my mother, do not click the above link).

We'll miss you, Barbara.

Barbara and Tom

It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our dear friend Barbara Dickens, one who always had a quick laugh, a funny comment or a kind word for anybody she knew. She was a wonderful woman who gave of herself without hesitation, and would lend her Payson home out to friends who wanted to get out of town for a while (or just enjoy a cheap Spring Break).

Barbara was a part of our family who could never be replaced. She was ill for quite some time now, and we can take some sort of solace in the fact that she isn't hurting anymore. She will be missed.

Vote for my friend's video

Our friend Andy Martinez is a very talented filmmaker that Kerri and I have been privileged to know since high school. He and his lovely girlfriend Jen have entered a video in the Apartments.com Roommate of the Year contest, so please go vote for it. You have to register once to vote (I have yet to receive ANY emails, so no worries) and you should vote once every day through August 2nd. If Andy wins he has promised to make us all wealthy beyond our wildest dreams, so help him out. For us.

Our first black president

I was telling one of my four-year-old students that President Barack Obama is our first black president, and he asked: "have we ever had a red president?" I didn't mean to get into a race discussion with the kid!

Payson Vacation

We went to Payson, Arizona for the long weekend and had a nice, relaxing time. Elway had a great time. The yard was big and shady and full of squirrels. He spent the first afternoon chasing big fat squirrels up trees. And I swear to god they were taunting him.

Elway also got to spend the afternoon of the 4th with us at the park while we waited for the fireworks. He got lots of attention, went on several walks, and got to lay in the nice grass.

Relaxing before the Fireworks

We were really close to the launching site of the fireworks, and when they started they scared the crapola out of both Jeff and I. Elway was equally as freaked out. But he calmed down quickly and after he got a raw hide, he didn't even give the fireworks a second thought.

This was Elway's first vacation out of town and he did great! He was perfect in the car and great in the cabin. I'm glad we have such a good dog.
