We got a tree for Christmas. We planted it on Boxing Day; we thought it would be cool to plant it on our first Christmas in the house. It'll be easy to remember how old it is this way. Hopefully it survives, and the dogs don't dig it up!

Max's First Christmas
Posted by
Kerri
Better late than never, but here is the Max's First Christmas post! The day started not too early, at around 7 (Max has been sleeping 'til 7 most mornings now! Seems weird that I'm excited about that...). We did our usual routine of eating, changing diapers, and drinking coffee, until my parents showed up at around 7:30. Then we Skyped with Megan and Kyle on one computer, and Jeff's parents on another, and they all got to watch as we opened our gifts!
Isn't technology great??
Max, of course, got a ton of presents. And I didn't even buy him much. His Grandmas and Aunt spoil him, so I knew my money was better spent on diapers and baby gates! Daddy was feeling jealous of all of Max's toys, so he had to play with one of them.
These presents were from Aunt Megan, and I love them. There are four different colored boxes, each with four colored items in them: a ball, a crayon, a fruit, and an animal. So when he's older, he can sort by color or category. They're a great educational gift, but he also just loves to chew on them! He also likes to drop things into the boxes. I am definitely going to find someone to buy these for. The big funny ball things are also from Aunt Megan (and Kyle too of course) and he loves to throw these, and they're super bouncy. The texture is really cool on them too. Both of these gifts are from Lakeshore, and I totally recommend them! (Attention: This is not a paid endorsement! haha)
It was a nice Christmas morning and we were surrounded by our loved ones, even if most of them were only two-dimensional.
We went over to my mom's later for dinner, where we were joined by the rest of the Tucson family.
Max was passed around and got lots of attention, which he's ok with! He sure has a lot of people that love him! We had a great Christmas, and I look forward to many more.

a poem, for Kerri

Usually when I start to fall asleep at night
I think about how lucky I am to have met her.
It's almost enough to make one believe in fate;
that somebody who is so perfect for me
sat right behind me one day in world history
in the same high school, the same city, the same country
on the same rock, hurtling around the same star.
I don't question how our paths met,
but I am thankful for every moment since they did.

This Moment (a video!)
I decided to switch it up a bit, and post a video this week instead of a picture. I've never posted a video before, and Jeff's not home to fix it so I hope I do it right! I may start posting a video and a picture, because we have so many fun videos, that I'd love to share them. Maybe I'll continue Friday's 'This Moment' and add a Sunday 'Max is crazy' video. haha!

I was stressed because we didn't have any photos I wanted to put on our Christmas card, and it was getting closer and closer to the 25th. I set out one morning determined to get just the right picture. I took lots, but wasn't happy with any of them. Jeff took some and we weren't too happy with those results either. I was getting pretty distraught. But when I uploaded the photos that night, I was surprised how many good ones we had actually taken! It's unusual that I don't like the pictures in camera, but liked them on the computer, usually it's the other way around.
Happy Holidays!
